After a decade in creative production, I returned to the classroom to earn a Master of Arts in Teaching from Point Loma Nazarene University, along with credentials in Art, English Language Arts, and English Language Development.

My graduate research examined the impact of art education on English language acquisition. Although the findings were correlational, they suggested that art education has a positive impact on student engagement, higher-order thinking, and overall academic achievement, resulting in statistically significant increases in language acquisition for English Learners. Exciting!!!

Today, I teach Art and English Language Arts, with a focus on visualization, multimodal learning, and culturally responsive practices. Whether students are analyzing a text or creating a symbolic self-portrait, I design lessons that help them make connections, find their voice, and see themselves as both learners and artists.
